Franchise agreements: Increasing franchise fees during license transfers has become a standard practice for franchisors.  These transfers are always accompanied by a punch list on operating  locations.  Many times these can be detrimental to a sale and have a significant impact on the owners.  Most of our problems lie in the franchise agreements as the hotel owners often have very little room to negotiate.  The current franchise agreements are often one sided to the franchisor's benefits.   With the help of local lodging institutions, ALA, AAHOA, AAFD, and other organizations we will continue to work to improve these agreements.
